1842-C $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Variety 1. A pleasing honey-gold representative with a sharp central strike and only a few wispy marks on the cheek. Scarce, with a reported mintage of 6,729 from the Charlotte Mint, leaving few for collectors to locate today. In fact, the combined NGC and PCGS population reports show 10 pieces graded this high, with just six coins seen finer of this date and mint (4/09).
