Description
1842-O Two and a Half, MS63
Important Conditional Rarity
1842-O $2 1/2 MS63 NGC. Variety 1. The 1842-O two and a half
has a meager mintage of 19,800 pieces. It is collectible in VF, but
XF-AU examples are costly, and MS63 pieces are extremely rare. We
are unable to locate any auction appearances by any firm in a
higher grade. In fact, the auction record for the issue, as listed
by PCGS, was set by the present coin back in 2005. It is a
desirable example with splendid apricot-gold color and surprisingly
few marks. The centers show softness, characteristic of the issue.
