Description
1843-D Quarter Eagle, AU50
Available Small D Variety
1843-D $2 1/2 Small D AU50 PCGS. Variety 4-F. The 1843-D
quarter eagle boasts the largest mintage of any D-mint quarter
eagle at 36,209 pieces. As might be suspected, the issue remains
the most available Dahlonega quarter eagle today, with
approximately 250-300 examples known. An estimated 60-75 specimens
have been preserved in AU grades, but the date is quite rare in
Mint State. The present coin is sharply struck for a D-mint issue
and the surfaces are free of distracting abrasions. Population: 28
in 50, 75 finer (2/10).From The Lucy Llewellyn Collection of Southern Gold.(Registry values: P1)
