1843-D $2 1/2 Small D AU58 NGC. Variety 4-D. The "low mintmark" Small D variety. The bright yellow-gold surfaces of this near-Mint example display considerable luster, and an attentive strike imparts sharp definition to the design features, except for the usual softness on the eagle's left (facing) leg. The surfaces are devoid of significant abrasions, that are visible on many '43-Ds (Douglas Winter, 2003).(Registry values: P1)
