Elusive 1844 Quarter Eagle AU55
1844 $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. The 1844 Quarter Eagle is an underappreciated rarity in all grades and is particularly challenging in grades even approaching Mint State. When offered at all, this issue of just 6,784 pieces is apt to grade no finer than a low-end AU. Offered here is a bright, lustrous green-gold example with a touch of striking softness on the major devices.
