Description

1844-C Quarter Eagle, AU58
Only Seven Numerically Finer

1844-C $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS. Winter-1. The 1844 Charlotte issue of the quarter eagle is infamously struck poorly, making even the higher-grade examples look somewhat "worn" and weakly detailed. This luminous, honey-gold lustered coin demonstrates minimally marked surfaces and frosted fields. Mint State examples are seldom seen, with none being graded beyond Choice Uncirculated and just seven numerically finer than this piece (2/26).(Registry values: P2)
