Mid-Level Rarity 1844-C Quarter Eagle, XF45

1844-C $2 1/2 XF45 NGC. Variety 1. The overall rarity ranking of the 1844-C is 10th out of the 20-coin series, and the original mintage was limited to 11,622 pieces. Approximately 150-175 coins are believed to exist today in all grades, with 50-55 examples in XF condition. The present coin is evenly worn, with much original detail still evident on the devices. Much of the apparent wear may actually be due to poor striking details. The surfaces show a number of nicks and abrasions, all consistent with the grade. Census: 18 in 45, 63 finer (10/09).(Registry values: P2)
