Glowing Choice AU 1844-D Quarter Eagle

1844-D $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. Variety 5-H. While the 1844-D quarter eagle has a mintage of only 17,332 pieces, it is more available in better circulated grades than the production might suggest. This softly radiant yellow-orange piece is well struck overall, though the hair above the ear shows a touch of softness. Scattered abrasions are present in the fields, and a more significant vertical abrasion affects the curl at the center of Liberty's neck.(Registry values: P2)
