Ex: Pittman Collection
1844-D $2 1/2 MS63 NGC. Variety 5-I. Ex: Pittman. An
exceptional Select Mint State piece from the Pittman Collection,
this coin is one of three MS63 examples that Doug Winter
specifically lists as the finest known to him. Both sides exhibit
brilliant and frosty yellow luster with hints of orange toning in
the protected areas of the reverse. The strike is well above
average, with bold clash marks visible on the reverse. No finer
pieces have been certified at NGC or PCGS. Census: 6 in 63, 0 finer
