Description

1845 Quarter Eagle, MS64
Conditionally Rare Philadelphia Issue

1845 $2 1/2 MS64 NGC. CAC. With a mintage of 91,051 coins, the 1845 quarter eagle is one of the more plentiful Philadelphia issues from the period, but that should not be translated into it being available. Any Mint State example is scarce, and those grading finer than MS63 are distinctly rare. This near-Gem representative displays luminous yellow-gold luster and the only noteworthy surface flaw is a small tick in the field near the 1 in the date. Some faint diagonal roller marks are noted on the portrait upon close examination, though the hair curls are well-defined. The eagle's left (facing) leg shows the only mentionable weakness. Housed in a prior generation holder. Census: 7 in 64, 1 finer (8/14).(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25GW, PCGS# 7737, Greysheet# 8266)
