Scarce Die Pair, Sharp Dahlonega Gold
1846-D $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Variety 7-I. Variety 7-I. A scarce
variety, with the mintmark beneath the branch and the arrow
fletching showing through. Bright and lustrous, with excellent
canary-yellow surfaces and ample eye appeal. Liberty's cheek is
clean and free of significant marks. Well struck by the dies with
full stars and curls on the obverse, and even the eagle's claws are
well formed, although blending is visible on the eagle's leg and
neck feathers. Scarce this nice and very difficult to find in full
