1846-D Quarter Eagle, MS61
Elusive Mint State Example
1846-D $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. Variety 7-L (formerly 7-K). The
1846-D Liberty quarter eagle claims a mintage of 19,303 pieces and
is one of the more available D-mint issues. The 1846-D is very rare
in Mint State, however, as few examples were saved by contemporary
collectors. This attractive MS61 specimen retains much original
mint luster and exhibits sharply detailed design elements, with a
minimum number of contact marks for the grade. Census: 4 in 61, 6
finer (4/13).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25H3, PCGS# 7742, Greysheet# 8352)
