    Description

Unsurpassed 1847-C Quarter Eagle MS64 NGC

1847-C $2 1/2 MS64 NGC. Ex: North Georgia Collection. Variety 8-F. This Choice Uncirculated example is well struck, with bright, pleasing lime-gold toning and shimmering luster. The fields have a faintly prooflike sheen, especially on the obverse, which is facilitated by the presence of some wispy die striations. A few trivial marks are noted in the fields, as well as on Liberty's neck, but none of these are large enough to distract. This issue had the highest mintage of any Charlotte Mint quarter eagle, and is one of the most available. Mint State survivors are scarce, however, and just nine pieces have been graded at MS64 by NGC and PCGS combined, with none finer (11/06).(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 25H6, PCGS# 7745)
