Description
1847-D Quarter Eagle, AU55
Rich Color and Strong Mint Luster
1847-D $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. Variety 9-M. Glowing yellow-gold
luster is particularly ample on the reverse. Crisply struck for a
Dahlonega issue, although Liberty's eyebrow and hair above the ear
show slight wear, as expected of the grade. Light marks near the
eagle's beak and the coronet tip are barely worthy of mention. A
mere 15,784 pieces were struck. From The Lucy Llewellyn Collection of Southern Gold.(Registry values: P2)
