Description
1847-D Quarter Eagle, MS63
Condition Census Quality
Ex: Ashland City Collection
1847-D $2 1/2 MS63 NGC. Variety 9-M. This important coin is
tied for fourth finest known on Winter's Condition Census. It is
truly a remarkable coin and is surely destined for one of the
finest sets of Dahlonega gold. Sharply struck throughout, the
fields are bright and reflective with a flashy prooflike finish on
each side. Small portions of satiny mint luster are also
intermixed, most notably around the peripheries. Each side is
lightly abraded, but there are no singularly obvious marks on
either side that would be especially useful in tracing this coin's
pedigree.Ex: Ashland City Collection/FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2003), lot 4680.
