Description

Rare 1847-O Quarter Eagle, MS61

1847-O $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. The 1847-O is rare in Mint State and only occasionally offered for sale. Moreover, it is one of the most poorly struck issues from the New Orleans Mint. The bright yellow-gold surfaces of this MS61 specimen exhibit the usual softness in the centers but are well struck elsewhere. A few minor handling marks do not detract. The coin has a medal turn. Census: 17 in 61, 10 finer (4/09).(Registry values: P2)
