Description

1848-C Two and a Half, AU55
Good Strike, Substantial Luster

1848-C $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. Although only 16,788 pieces were struck, two die pairs are known. Variety 1 (Date Left) is seen more often than Variety 2 (Date Right), though both are rare. This yellow-gold representative displays a copious amount of remaining mint luster. The luminous surfaces lack any singularly distracting marks. The strike is sharp for a Charlotte product, though the right (facing) claw is incomplete.
