Description

Pleasing 1848-D Quarter Eagle
A Significant Condition Rarity in MS62

1848-D $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS. Variety 10-M. This issue is available with relatively little trouble in the grades of Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated. Mint State examples on the other hand are rare, with perhaps a couple dozen or so specimens known. PCGS has certified fewer than 20 pieces, none finer than MS63.
Pronounced deep reddish patina shows on this MS62 coin, with tinges of lilac over the high points. The design features are sharply struck, a characteristic of the issue. Only a few inoffensive abrasions are seen. All in all, a great coin for the designated grade. Population: 7 in 62, 6 finer (9/11).
