1849 $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. Here is a sensational and historically important quarter eagle, struck during the early days of the California gold rush. With its faint greenish appearance, there is a possibility that this quarter eagle was actually coined from gold discovered in California. The surfaces are frosty and lustrous with most of the design definition bold detailed. Census: 8 in 61, 9 finer (6/10).(Registry values: P2)
