    1849 $2 1/2 MS63 PCGS. The 1849 Liberty Head quarter eagle boasts a modest mintage of 23,294 pieces, and the date is very rare in Select Mint State condition. The coin offered here displays sharply defined design elements on the obverse, but a touch of softness shows on the eagle's leg on the reverse. The surfaces are a light greenish-gold color, with bright mint luster on the obverse and areas of prooflike reflectivity on the reverse. Population: 5 in 63, 2 finer (8/11).
