Description

1850 Liberty Two and a Half, MS64+
Condition Census Rarity

1850 $2 1/2 MS64+ NGC. A boldly struck piece, save for the usual touch of weakness on the eagle's left (facing) leg. This high-end near-Gem boasts yellow-gold mint luster and satiny fields, while a few marks in the left obverse margin and on the portrait prevent full Gem classification. The 1850 quarter eagle is surprisingly rare in MS64, given its mintage of more than 250,000 pieces, and only a few pieces exist finer. Census: 8 in 64 (1 in 64+), 2 finer (8/25).(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25HG, PCGS# 7755, Greysheet# 8272)
