    Description

1850-C $2 1/2 VF30 PCGS. Variety 2. The scarcer of two die pairings that struck 9,148 quarter eagles at the Charlotte Mint in 1850. This is a fairly scarce issue with fewer than 225 pieces believed extant, although the present midgrade coin is accessible for budget-conscious collectors. Each side shows a thick old-time "crust" of coppery-orange, amber, and violet hues, with a combination of strike weakness and wear softening the central devices. Housed in an old green label holder.
