Delightful 1850-D Quarter Eagle, AU58
1850-D $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS. Variety 13-M. The only variety known. With a mintage of just 12,148 pieces, the 1850-D is a scarce issue in any grade. Mint State coins are decidedly rare, and NGC and PCGS report a combined 24 pieces at that level. This impressive near-Uncirculated example displays a delightful mix of apricot-gold and mint-green color on both sides. Enticing semiprooflike luster accents the sharply defined design elements, which are full save for a trace of weakness on the eagle's legs. Population: 13 in 58, 6 finer (8/08).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25HJ, PCGS# 7757, GSID# 8363)
