    Description

    1850-O Two and a Half Dollar, MS61
    Southern Condition Rarity

1850-O $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. Variety 1. The mintmark is right of the fraction bar. A generous mintage of 84,000 coins belies the scarcity of the 1850-O quarter eagle. Only 250 to 350 coins are believed extant, including 10 to 15 pieces in Mint State, per Winter. Softness is confined to a couple of lower stars and the eagle's left (facing) leg on this otherwise strong MS61 representative. Pleasing yellow-gold surfaces are softly lustrous with fine hairlines. Census: 8 in 61, 4 finer (10/19).(Registry values: P2)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25HK, PCGS# 7758)

    Weight: 4.18 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
