    1851 $2 1/2 MS64 PCGS. California gold inundated the Philadelphia Mint in 1851, with more than 1.3 million quarter eagles just one of the high-mintage denominations for the year. This frosted near-Gem has a sharp strike and displays attractive butter-gold color. Mint luster coruscates on both sides. A surprisingly scarce issue in MS64 and finer grades. Population: 51 in 64 (3 in 64+), 6 finer (10/19).(Registry values: P2)
