Lovely 1851-C Quarter Eagle, AU50
1851-C $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS. Variety 13-G. A scarce Southern branch mint issue, a scant 14,923 pieces were struck. Minor marks on Liberty's jaw and above the first star are hardly worthy of mention. The strike is, as expected, not full on the eagle's shield and plumage, or on the hair curls, but the impression from the dies is suitable for a Charlotte Mint product.
