Scarce AU53 1851-D Quarter Eagle
1851-D $2 1/2 AU53 NGC. CAC. Variety 14-M, the only known dies. Just 11,264 examples were coined, and only about 100 to 150 of those still exist today, including only four or five Mint State coins and a couple dozen AU pieces. This example has hints of green accompanying the light gold surfaces. The reverse is rotated about 45 degrees counterclockwise.
