    Description

    1851-D Quarter Eagle, Unc Details
    Only Dies for the Date

1851-D $2 1/2 -- Obverse Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. Unc. Variety 15-N. A single pair of dies was used to strike the entire mintage of 11,264 quarter eagles at the Dahlonega Mint in 1851. This pale greenish-gold example shows some prooflike reflectivity on the reverse, but the obverse shows signs of a prior cleaning. The design elements are sharply detailed and the overall presentation is quite attractive.
