Description

Flashy MS62 1852-O Two and a Half

1852-O $2 1/2 MS62 NGC. Breen-6219, his 'extra heavy O' variety, which he considered very rare but makes up a significant portion of the issue. The mintmark is unusually thick and tall, reminiscent of the 1854-O 'Huge O' quarter which is believed to have been entered by hand into the die. This is a moderately prooflike example with a pleasantly unmarked appearance. The strike is precise except on the eagle's left (facing) leg. Census: 7 in 62, 4 finer (7/08).(Registry values: P2)
