Conditionally Scarce Issue

1856 $2 1/2 MS64 PCGS. Despite a mintage of 384,240 quarter eagles at Philadelphia in 1856, few have survived in better Mint State grades, as the population figures indicate. This lovely Choice Mint State piece features brilliant yellow luster with rose toned highlights that are most evident on the obverse. Population: 25 in 64 (3 in 64+), 11 finer (3/23).(Registry values: P2)
