Highly Attractive 1858 Quarter Eagle, MS64
1858 $2 1/2 MS64 NGC. Die polish lines traverse the semiprooflike fields of this highly attractive near-Gem and a solid strike leaves sharp detail on the design features except for minor weakness on the eagle's neck and left (facing) leg. Both sides yield straw-gold color, and a couple of trivial marks barely deny Gem status. Mint State examples are scarce through MS63 and rare any finer. Census: 5 in 64, 2 finer (10/09).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25JG, PCGS# 7786, GSID# 8280)
