1860-C Quarter Eagle, AU58
Last C-Mint Quarter Eagle
1860-C $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Variety 1. The year 1860 saw the
last production of quarter eagles at the Charlotte Mint. Only 7,469
examples were struck by the famous facility in its last gasp before
the Civil War. Scarce in all grades today, experts believe a total
of 155-205 specimens survive, with 35-45 pieces in AU grades. The
present coin features the typical sharp strike on the obverse, with
the reverse details a trifle soft at the center. A few small
abrasions on Liberty's face are consistent with the grade. Census:
