1862 $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Although more than 1.3 million gold dollars were struck in 1862, quarter eagle production was limited to less than 100,000 pieces, and would not exceed 40,000 pieces again until 1873. This almond-gold near-Mint representative is sharply struck and offers a broad band of luster near the rims.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25JZ, PCGS# 7796, GSID# 8287)
