1863-S $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. The 1863-S quarter eagle is part of a sequence of lower-mintage San Francisco small-denomination gold. This pleasingly detailed piece, one of 10,800 pieces struck, shows only a trace of friction across the high points. Luminous gold-orange surfaces are free of overt flaws.
