Just 1,632 Minted

1877 $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. A minuscule mintage of only 1,632 business strike quarter eagles came out of the Philadelphia Mint in 1877, an average of just four coins per day. The low mintage means that prooflike coins are normal for this issue, and the present reflective Mint State piece has light greenish-gold color with scattered marks. Census: 6 in 61, 15 finer (8/12).(Registry values: P2)
