1877-S $2 1/2 PCGS Genuine. The PCGS number ending in .94 suggests Altered Surfaces as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has Uncirculated details but is lightly cleaned and exhibits altered surfaces that make the fields appear luminous and prooflike. Short scratches are also present near the right (facing) wing.(Registry values: P2, N2)Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price.
