1878 $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. The 1878 is available in the lower Mint State grades, but MS65 pieces are scarce, and anything finer is quite rare. Pleasing silk-like luster adorns the honey-gold surfaces of the present Gem, and a precise strike leaves uniform definition on the design features. Some minute marks might well preclude an even higher grade. Population: 27 in 65, 4 finer (8/08).(Registry values: P2)
