Description

Scarce 1887 Gem Quarter Eagle

1887 $2 1/2 MS65 NGC. With a circulation strike mintage of only 6,160 coins, the 1887 is clearly a scarce date that is elusive in Mint State grades. This amazing Gem is boldly detailed and exhibits rich orange-gold luster with semireflective fields. A few scattered marks on the reverse are all that prevent an even higher grade. Census: 1 in 65, 1 finer (3/09).(Registry values: P2)
