Description

Spectacular 1887 Quarter Eagle, MS65
The Single Finest Certified by PCGS

1887 $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1887 quarter eagle is scarce in any grade, with a mintage of just 6,160 pieces. Most of the examples certified by NGC and PCGS fall within the AU55 to MS62 range, and the numbers drop precipitously in higher grades. This is only MS65 specimen graded by PCGS, with none finer (7/09).
The satiny fields of this outstanding quarter eagle are almost prooflike. Delightful yellow-gold patina covers both sides. A couple of stars show a touch of softness, but the rest of the details are powerfully impressed. Careful inspection with a loupe reveals only a couple of nearly imperceptible handling marks. The perfect coin for an advanced collector.(Registry values: P2)
