Fully Struck, Lovely Eye Appeal

1896 $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS. Rich orange-gold toning gives this Philadelphia mint issue lovely eye appeal. Only a few small contact ticks can be observed under magnification. Fully struck with excellent definition of all design elements including the portrait, eagle's feathers, and shield lines. Luminous frosty luster blankets the pristine surfaces. While the 1896 quarter eagle can be readily located in lower grades, at the Premium Gem Uncirculated level it becomes rare. PCGS Population: 47 in 66 (6 in 66+) 17 finer (3/26).(Registry values: P2)
