Description

Splendid 1899 Quarter Eagle, MS65

1899 $2 1/2 MS65 NGC. After 1879 all Liberty Head quarter eagles were produced at the Philadelphia Mint, which struck quantities that ranged from a low of 640 pieces to a high of 336,294 coins. The 1899 is somewhere in the middle with a mintage of 27,200 examples. Scintillating satiny luster shimmers throughout the yellow-gold surfaces. A few pin-sized abrasions do not distract. This sharply struck example would make a great type coin.(Registry values: P2)
