    Description

    1846-D/D Quarter Eagle, Unc Details
    Impressively Sharp Strike

1846-D/D $2 1/2 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. Unc. Variety 7-L. This is the late, lapped die state, although the repunched mintmark remnant is still visible above the 1 in the fraction. The 1846-D is a fairly plentiful issue in the context of Dahlonega quarter eagles, suitable for the collector seeking a single coin from this mint. This example is remarkably sharp and has relatively smooth surfaces. The color is bright yellow-gold following a light cleaning.

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
