    Description

    1854-C Quarter Eagle, AU53+
Better Charlotte Date, 7,295 Pieces Struck

1854-C $2 1/2 AU53+ NGC. Variety 1, The Sole Die Pair. The 1854-C quarter eagle is scarcer than the certified population reports would suggest. Likely only 105 to 145 examples are known in all grades, these more or less evenly distributed throughout the VF, XF, and AU grade ranges. In Mint State, this issue is genuinely rare. The present Plus-graded About Uncirculated coin displays medium olive-gold patina with minimal abrasions. Weakness on the central eagle and the hair curls around Liberty's face is due to strike rather than significant wear. Census: 1 in 53+, 69 finer (1/19).(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 7J2P, PCGS# 7770)

    Weight: 4.18 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
