    1878 $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS. The Mint struck 286,240 quarter eagles in 1878, making this one of the most collectible dates in the series. Examples only become scarce in Gem condition and rare at this high level. Strongly defined peach-gold surfaces emit glowing mint frost from each side. No marks to mention. Population: 11 in 66 (2 in 66+), 3 finer (6/19).(Registry values: P2)
