    Sharp and Reflective, Old Holder

    1885 $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. The 1885 quarter eagle is famous for its paltry 800-coin mintage, of which few examples survive in any grade. This is an uncommonly sharp AU55 representative with mostly reflective fields and original yellow-gold color. Only a brush of friction is discernible. Housed in a prior generation holder. Census: 5 in 55, 34 finer (3/16).
