    Description

    1905 Quarter Eagle, PR63+ Cameo
Rare With Such Contrast, Great Eye Appeal

1905 $2 1/2 PR63+ Cameo PCGS Secure. CAC. The Mint struck 144 proof quarter eagles in 1905 using one set of sides. John Dannreuther explains that "finding Proofs with frosted features is difficult. 1904 Proofs are found with their devices frosted, but most of the 1905 Proofs are found with clear raised elements, especially noted on the face." This is one of perhaps a dozen or two survivors (out of 80 to 110 pieces total) that display Cameo contrast. None have been certified with Deep Cameo surfaces. This deep orange-gold representative features profoundly reflective, textured fields and thickly frosted, razor-sharp motifs. An eye-catching example with minimal contact. Population: 3 in 63 (1 in 63+) Cameo, 12 finer. CAC: 2 in 63, 7 finer (10/18).(Registry values: P1)
