Description

1909 VDB Lincoln Cent, MS68 Red
Incredible Condition Rarity
Top of the Condition Census

1909 1C VDB MS68 Red PCGS. Most high-grade 1909 Philadelphia Lincoln cents represent the VDB variety, and this issue is widely popular as a type coin. The 1909 VDB is also the only variant of the first-year Lincoln cent that PCGS has certified at the MS68 numeric level. The Population Report lists three Red coins and one Red and Brown coin this fine (the latter coin is Plus graded) (5/21). Offered here is one of the three MS68 Red pieces. It is one of only eight Lincoln cents of any date or Mint struck prior to 1919 that PCGS has awarded this lofty grade. Strike sharpness is outstanding throughout, complementing rich, satiny mint luster. Vibrant copper-gold and orange hues adorn each side, and there is no trace of carbon spotting. Eye appeal is truly outstanding. Population: 3 in 68 Red, 0 finer (5/21).
