Description

1909-S Lincoln Cent, MS66+ Red
Only 19 Graded Finer

1909-S 1C MS66+ Red PCGS. Blazing red surfaces have only mellowed slightly in the last 116 years. The wheat ears are sharply defined, although slight weakness exists in Lincoln's hair. While it stands in the shadow of its VDB-sporting elder, the 1909-S still has the fourth lowest mintage in the Wheat cent series at 1,825,000 coins. This issue is more difficult to find in Uncirculated than the 1909-S VDB, especially at the Premium Gem level, with PCGS and NGC having only certified 13 and 6 finer examples, respectively.(Registry values: N991)
