Description

1909-S Lincoln Cent, MS67 Red
Terrific Eye Appeal

1909-S 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Ex: Jerald L. Martin Collection. Fewer examples of the 1909-S were saved than those San Francisco coins bearing the designer's initials "V.D.B." at the lower reverse, but the issue receives much less attention than its famous key-date counterpart. The 1909-S remains collectible in MS64 and MS65 Red condition, transitioning to scarce in MS66 Red and downright rare in Superb Gem.

Eye appeal is terrific, with rich orange-copper color in the fields and lighter shades of tan-gold on the fully struck relief elements. Each side appears essentially pristine; We can find no flaws aside from an inconsequential tick below the N in IN. Population: 10 in 67 (1 in 67+) Red, 0 finer (11/18).
