Description

1909-S VDB Cent, MS64 Red and Brown
Attractive Woodgrain Patina

1909-S 1C VDB MS64 Red and Brown PCGS. This enchanting near-Gem survives as one of the 484,000 1909-S cents struck with Victor David Brenner's initials prominently included on the lower reverse. This MS64 Red and Brown is well-struck and lustrous on a rich blend of caramel-gold and chocolate patina. The obverse exhibits a woodgrain pattern, particularly above the date. A small carbon spot in front of IN and some tiny field nicks limit the grade. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins (#47 in 6th edition).(Registry values: N1793)
